Multiple Occupants Dead in Devastating Cattaraugus County House Fire

‘Multiple’ people have died in a Cattaraugus County house fire, according to emergency responders.

The fire occurred this morning at a residence on Route 242 in the town of Otto in Cattaraugus County. Firefighters responded to the scene around 7:30 a.m., according to local news reports. Firefighters arrived to find the house fully engulfed in flames. The fire was quickly spreading throughout the house, making it very hard for firefighters to contain and extinguish the fire.

Emergency crews worked for hours to extinguish the blaze, according WKBW Buffalo. According to 13WHAM.com, once the flames were extinguished firefighters found "multiple victims" deceased inside the home. No information yet has been provided on the cause of the fire or the identities of the victims. The Red Cross is assisting the surviving family members.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. More information will be released as it becomes available.
