Copa Libertadores: Independiente del Valle stun Boca Juniors to reach the final

A last-gasp goal from Bryan Cabezas sent Independiente del Valle to the final of the Copa Libertadores after overcoming Boca Juniors 3-2 on aggregate.

The Ecuadorian side had shocked the Argentine giants 2-1 in the first leg and produced another stunning performance in the return match at the Estadio Olimpico Atahualpa.

Boca had taken an early lead through Ricardo Centurión, but goals from Miller Castillo and Arturo Mina gave Independiente del Valle a 2-1 advantage on the night.

Carlos Tevez equalised for Boca in the second half, but Cabezas' 90th-minute strike sealed a famous victory for the underdogs.

Independiente del Valle will now face either Atletico Nacional or Sao Paulo in the final on July 27.

This is a remarkable achievement for Independiente del Valle, who are only in their second season in the Copa Libertadores.

They have now knocked out two of the tournament's favourites and will be hoping to cause another upset in the final.
