Cain The Farmer And Abel The Shepherd

Cain and Abel: The First Sons of Adam and Eve

Cain the Farmer and Abel the Shepherd

In the biblical Book of Genesis, Cain and Abel are the first two sons of Adam and Eve. Cain, the firstborn, was a farmer, while his brother Abel was a shepherd.

The Story of Cain and Abel

According to the biblical account, Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. "With the help of the Lord, I have brought forth a man," she said.

Later, Eve gave birth to Abel. The two brothers grew up with different occupations: Cain worked the land, while Abel tended to the sheep.

One day, Cain and Abel brought offerings to the Lord. Cain offered some of the produce from his farm, while Abel offered the firstborn of his flock. God favored Abel's offering, which angered Cain.

Filled with jealousy and rage, Cain lured his brother Abel into the field and killed him.

Consequences of Cain's Crime

God confronted Cain about his actions and punished him for his sin. Cain was banished from his home and became a wanderer, cursed to roam the earth without rest.

The story of Cain and Abel is a cautionary tale about the dangers of sin and the importance of following God's commands.
