Angels Star Mike Trout Undergoes Surgery for Torn Ligament

Veteran Center Fielder Set to Miss Significant Time

Trout Hopeful for Speedy Return

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb and will miss significant time, the team announced. The 30-year-old outfielder injured his thumb while sliding into second base during a minor league rehabilitation game on Monday.

Trout has been battling injuries all season. He missed the first half of the year with a strained left calf and has only played in 51 games since the start of the 2020 season. Despite his injury woes, Trout has been productive when healthy, hitting .220 with 10 home runs and 14 RBIs in 29 games this season.

The Angels are hopeful that Trout will be able to return to the lineup in 6-8 weeks. However, the team will be cautious with their star player, who has a history of injuries.

Trout is one of the best players in baseball and his absence will be a major blow to the Angels. The team is currently in fourth place in the AL West and is battling for a playoff spot.
