Haney confident he can beat Davis in multiple ways
WBC lightweight champion believes he has the skills to overcome unified champion
WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney believes he has more than one way to beat WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring lightweight champion Gervonta Davis.
The two American stars are expected to meet in the ring in the summer of 2024 in a highly anticipated bout.
Haney, who is undefeated in 29 fights, is confident that he has the skills to overcome Davis, who is also undefeated in 28 fights.
"I think I can beat him in multiple ways," Haney said. "I can outbox him, I can outpunch him, I can outsmart him. I'm just a better fighter than him."
Davis is known for his power and punching ability, but Haney believes that he can neutralize that threat.
"I'm not going to stand in front of him and trade punches with him," Haney said. "I'm going to use my footwork and my speed to stay out of his range and make him miss."
Haney also believes that he has a mental edge over Davis.
"I'm more experienced than him," Haney said. "I've been in bigger fights than him. I'm more mature than him. I'm just a better all-around fighter than him."
The Haney-Davis fight is one of the most anticipated fights in boxing. It is a clash of two of the best young fighters in the world. Haney is confident that he will come out on top.
"I'm going to beat him," Haney said. "I'm going to show the world that I'm the best lightweight in the world."
