Ezekiel Elliott Signs with the Dallas Cowboys
After one season in New England, Ezekiel Elliott is headed back to Dallas.
The two-time All-Pro running back reportedly agreed to a deal with the Cowboys on Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Elliott, who turns 29 in July, spent the 2023 season with the Patriots, leading the team in rushing with 642 yards and three touchdowns on 184 carries (3.5 YPC). It was a career low in yards per carry for Elliott, who had previously averaged 4.5 YPC over his first six seasons in the NFL.
The Cowboys released Elliott in August 2023 after he led the team in rushing in each of his first six seasons. He signed a one-year, $6.5 million deal with the Patriots in March 2023.
Elliott's return to Dallas gives the Cowboys a much-needed boost in the backfield. The team ranked 26th in the NFL in rushing yards per game in 2023.
